Hard to Handle...the most popular i suppose is 08-06-71, my favorite is 04-29-1971 Fillmore...04-28 is half a notch below...

I am listening to 71-03-24 at the Winterland and it is does have all the key ingredients to a great hard to handle with Phil's bass in the forefront:

you really can't go wrong with any of the ones mentioned...

I just love that beginning: "BAAAAAAAby..."

after winterland, I am going directly to 69-12-28, the Hollywood FL show since it is one of my favs and haven't heard it in a spell.

As noted, January of 70 has a few choice versions as well.

No one ever mentions the HTH from 69-04-23. I really don't know why. Wicked slide guitar work by Jerry, my all-time favorite . . .

Flying under the radar, but with plenty of attitude comes this version from the Dead's show the night after the famous bust on Bourbon Street. Unfortunately Phils bass fries after the song and the remainder of the show is acoustic. The bass died for a good cause here.

This show gets overlooked for some reason, but the historical factor along with the acoustic set and the Hard To Handle make it a classic. (I also love Bobby baiting the New Orleans PD after Mama Tried.)
Perfect songs to play after a bust! Check it out!
